Capcom’s action role-playing game, Dragon’s Dogma 2, has been struggling in terms of sales, even in the presence of discount offers.

According to the Capcom’s updated list of Platinum Titles, a title given to games that have sold more than 1 million copies, the game has sold a total of 200,000 copies during the fourth quarter of 2024,  between the period of September 30 and December 31. Meanwhile, Monster Hunter World sold 400,000 copies, and its Iceborne expansion sold 900,000 units during the same period. Additionally, Monster Hunter Rise sold 700,000 copies, and its Sunbreak expansion sold 600,000 units during the quarter.

Dragon's dogma 2 sales

As such, sales of Dragon’s Dogma 2 have been outpaced by these older Monster Hunter titles and their respective DLCs during Q4 2024, despite it being offered on sale during this period, with discounts of up to 40%.. However, to be fair, Monster Hunter is a long-running and established series with many releases, while Dragon’s Dogma 2 is only the second entry in its series.

A majority of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s lifetime sales of 3.5 million copies were front-loaded, as the game had sold around 3 million in May, 2024, 2 months after its launch. The remaining 0.5 million were sold across the rest of 2024. The action role-playing game is currently being offered at a discount of 40% across the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store, and Steam, but that doesn’t seem to have changed things, as indicated by it being at #243 on Steam’s global top sellers.

While Dragon’s Dogma 2’s sales are disappointing to a certain extent, it’s worth putting a few things into perspective. The game launched in a rough technical state and hardly received any post-launch content updates or expansions. Despite that, it performed comparably to Capcom’s fighting game, Street Fighter 6, a game that is supported with updates and DLC, in terms of launch-aligned sales. The latter had sold around 3.7 million copies a year after its release. By March, 2025, a year after Dragon’s Dogma 2’s launch, its sales will likely reach a similar figure.

Possible upcoming DLC for Capcom’s action role-playing game, Dragon’s Dogma 2, may have been discovered via a new datamine.

A dataminer has found in-game files in the recently emerged Denuvo-free build of the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 that indicate the game may receive DLC in some shape or form in the future. As seen in the screenshot below, there is mention of a Boss Rush Mode and a new multiplayer mode called Tower of the New Moon.

Dragon's dogma 2 dlc

A multiplayer mode sounds like a pretty major addition to Dragon’s Dogma 2, one that fans have undoubtedly asked for. It remains to be seen whether it is specific to some new mode or whether players will be able to play the main quest together in co-op. It’s also tough to say whether the DLC, if it exists, will be offered for free or as paid content.

Recently, Dragon’s Dogma 2 Steam back-end had revealed that a number of encrypted DLC updates had been made to its database files. Several DLC files listed as SteamDB Unknown Apps had apparently been added to the database. This suggested that the content had been in development for quite some time. Capcom has yet to make a statement on these findings, and it’s unlikely that it will.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the sequel to 2012’s Dragon’s Dogma. It takes place in a fantasy-themed world parallel to that of the original. Players control a customizable character in an open-world setting, pursuing a dragon that has designated them as the Arisen. Along the way, they navigate a geopolitical conflict, complete quests, acquire new equipment, and receive assistance from allies called Pawns. These characters are AI-controlled but function similar to player-controlled avatars, assisting in combat, offering information about enemies, and providing guidance for active quests.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on March 22, 2024.

Capcom may be preparing to announce DLC for its action role-playing game, Dragon’s Dogma 2, in the near future.

Going by the recent changes made to Dragon’s Dogma 2 game files on Steam (via SteamDB), it looks like the game may be set to receive some major DLC sometime soon. A quick look at the game files reveals that a number of encrypted DLC updates have been made over the last week.

Dragon's dogma 2 dlc

Several DLC files are listed as SteamDB Unknown Apps, and they appear to have been added to the database 6 months ago. This suggests that the content has been in development for at least 6 months. Capcom has yet to make a statement on these findings, and it’s unlikely that it will. However, going by the regular updates to the Dragon’s Dogma 2 game files, an official announcement is likely to be on the horizon.

Since its launch on March 22, 2024, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been criticized over the handling of its paid DLC. For those who have been following the game, you’ve likely encountered a range of reviews for Dragon’s Dogma 2, many of which have been positive, including ours. It’s important to note that the DLC available in the official store does not fit the typical definition of microtransactions. These additional purchases are not necessary to complete or fully enjoy the game. This approach to DLC is consistent with other games published by Capcom. This hasn’t helped the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 from getting mixed reviews on Steam. The game is designed mainly as a single-player experience, and the available DLC does not enhance this aspect in any significant way. The idea that the DLC is essential to enjoy the game is entirely unfounded. To understand why this is the case, follow the link here to examine the list of DLC available in the game as well as their relevance.

Dragonsplague has remained a big threat in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, but that will change after the release of a new update to the game.

Capcom has announced their plans for the next Dragon’s Dogma 2 update. One major adjustment is the reduction in the frequency of dragonsplague infection, along with making the signs of Pawns infected with dragonsplague more noticeable in the upcoming update to Dragon’s Dogma 2. This includes enhancements such as making the glowing eyes of infected characters more prominent.

Another notable addition is the option to zoom in on the faces of both the Arisen and Pawns on various screens such as the status screen and shops. This feature allows players to get a closer look at their characters’ facial details.

The patch also addresses several issues related to the mini-map functionality. One improvement is that treasure chests that have already been acquired will no longer be displayed on the mini-map, streamlining navigation and reducing clutter.

Furthermore, adjustments have been made to Pawns’ behavior and dialogue throughout the game. This includes fixes for issues where players couldn’t perform actions like high-fiving Pawns or initiating guiding sequences. Additionally, Pawns are now less likely to fall off cliffs, and the frequency of certain dialogue lines has been reduced for a smoother gameplay experience.

Improvements have also been made to Pawn dialogue, ensuring that their lines better match the circumstances encountered in the game world. Fixes have been implemented for issues such as Pawns stopping speaking outside of combat or Main Pawns speaking Support Pawns’ dialogue erroneously.

Capcom shared the full set of patch notes on X (formerly Twitter). You can have a look at them below.

  • Reducing the infection frequency of dragonsplague and adjusting the signs of Pawns infected with dragonsplague to be more noticeable.
    • For example, when infected, glowing eyes will be more noticeable.
  • Adding the option to zoom in on the faces of the Arisen and Pawns in the status screen, shops, etc.
  • Fixing some issues and implementing adjustments related to the mini map.
    • Treasure chests that have already been acquired won’t be displayed on the mini map.
  • Adjustments to Pawns’ behavior and dialogue.
    • Fixing issues where occasionally the player couldn’t high five Pawns.
    • Fixing issues where Pawns wouldn’t start guiding after offering to guide.
    • Making Pawns less likely to fall off cliffs.
    • Reducing the frequency of some Pawn dialogue lines.
    • Improving Pawn lines to better match circumstances.
    • Fixing some issues where Pawns stop speaking outside of combat.
    • Fixing some issues where the Main Pawn speaks Support Pawn’s dialogue.
    • Making Pawns more likely to aid the Arisen if the Arisen commands them to help while being held by enemies.
    • Reducing the frequency of Pawns offering to be hired by the player while in the field.
  • Fixing issues where sometimes escort quests are considered failed when accessing Character Edit or other specific situations.
  • Fixing issues where the player could be jailed when fighting monsters in town.
  • Fixing some crashes and freezes in specific circumstances.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an action role-playing video game made by Capcom. It’s a follow-up to the first Dragon’s Dogma game from 2012. Unlike the original, this game happens in a whole new fantasy world. Players take on the role of a character they can customize. They explore a huge open world and have to chase down a dragon that’s chosen them as the “Arisen.” While dealing with political tensions, players go on missions, get new equipment, and team up with allies called “Pawns.”

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has many different dynamic gameplay systems including various status effects, one of which is the Dragonsplague. It is an incredibly dangerous illness that can transfer from one pawn to the other. Players need to be proactive in figuring it out otherwise they will suffer a major setback in story/quests and potentially ruin their save data.

Dragonsplague is hinted at in the game right from the beginning. If you keep an ear on what your Pawn says, you will learn that they mention a mysterious illness that can spread among the pawns. This illness is called Dragonsplague and it is one of the many debilitations that you can get in the game, except, there is no proper way to cure it.

What Is Dragonsplague?

The official description for Dragonsplague can be read in the tutorial menu. It explains the plague as follows.

Dragonsplague is a myserious illness that can only be contracted by panws. Unlike other debilitations, it is not recorded in the pawn’s Status. Afflicted pawns remain entirely unaware of their condition, and there will be no objective difference in their behavior. All that is known of the effects of this illness are that it can result in a devastating calamity.

Dragonsplague is contagious, and can pass between pawns traveling together in the same party. There are only two known ways to cure dragonsplague: the afflicted pawn must either bcome forfeit, or “infect” another pawn, passing the illness on to them.

Capcom had also teased this illness in a pre-release coverage: “Infected pawns display remarkable performance and become conspicuously strong in their speech and behavior.” This is a good hint on how to learn if our pawn is infected with the Dragonsplague.

How To Avoid Dragonsplague

The best way to avoid the Dragonsplague is to keep an eye on your main pawn as well as keep a look out for pawns when hiring them from the Rift. They will have glowing red eyes so you will be able to see if they are infected during nighttime. They will also have some odd behavior, e.g. refusing to follow your advice, or acting on their own, even if they are kindhearted. You will notice them acting sick as well. They will cough and put their hands on their head like they are having a headache, all of which are important signs to keep in mind.

Here is an example of an infected pawn shared by a user on Reddit.

Dragonsplague Eye Flickering
byu/cakey96 inDragonsDogma

The infected pawn needs to be neutralized so your best bet is to throw them down a cliff, or into the water. You also need to make sure that your other pawns are not already infected at this point. Avoid resting at any inn in a town when you have an infected pawn in the party as it can have a devastating effect. The entire town can be killed by this plague.

How To Recover From Dragonsplague

If you are hit by the Dragonsplague, neutralize your pawn as soon as possible. If you accidentally ended up sleeping at an inn and the entire town is now dead, you can hope for the best and pass time through bench for up to a week and most of the important NPCs will be resurrected.

You can also try to use an Eternal Wakestone that can be found by completing the quest with the Sphinx Riddles. This Wakestone has a limited range so while it might not revive everyone in a big town like Vernworth, it can work fine for smaller towns if you are in the range of the dead NPCs. Someone was able to use the Eternal Wakestone to revive 169 NPCs in their town, so there is supposedly no limit for it aside from the range.

]]>
A Beggar’s Tale is one of the earliest sidequests in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You can find out the steps on how to beat it in this guide.

A Beggar’s Tale takes place in the town square part of Vernworth, the main city in Vermund. You will get it automatically in the game and it is one of the first sidequests that you can get without having to resort to completing some specific tasks.

How To Complete A Beggar’s Tale In Dragon’s Dogma 2

You will find the Beggar standing next to the fountain in the main square. He will tell some folklore story for a good few minutes so wait next to him until he is finished. He will soon move away from his location and head to a place near the slums. You can follow him to see where he goes, but he will stop at one point and enter a house. This house is directly beneath the rest point that you can purchase after one of the sidequests in the game.

Once the beggar goes inside, the door will be closed. If you try to sneak into his home just as he opens the door, you will be thrown out so don’t bother. Just wait another couple of minutes out the door and he will leave the home soon. Once he does, you will have the opportunity to go inside and get the item “Beggar’s Garb”.

Go back outside and follow him and you will notice that he is heading to the slums. Keep track of his movement and make special mention of who he talks to, and you will retrace his steps to the Noble Quarters. He will head into the Baldwin Estate. Now you have three different endings depending on how you want to complete this sidequest. Each of them offers different rewards.

  • Option 1: Go to the Slums and head to Walter’s Tavern. Find Celina there and give her the Beggar’s Garb.
  • Option 2: Go to Baldwin’s Estate and give the Beggar’s Garb to Albert.
  • Option 3: Go Outside Baldwin’s Estate and give the Beggar’s Garb to Hilda.
